Our vineyards cover a total of 6 hectares, 5.5 of which are at the foot of the spur on which the Castle of Ripa d'Orcia stands, at an altitude of about 300 metres, and are divided into 4 plots.
The soils are of sedimentary origin, composed of a mixture of limestone
and shale with sandy components that are more or less significant depending on the microzone.

The rows benefit from a favourable microclimate due to the exposure to the south-west that guarantees optimal sunshine and the breeze coming from the River Orcia. The woodland and the surrounding Mediterranean scrub, rich in flora and native essences,
are a treasure trove of biological diversity that nourishes our vines.
Here, between 1996 and 2005, we planted Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Vermentino,
and replanted Sangiovese and Trebbiano Toscano, which were present in previous centuries.
A single plot of half a hectare is isolated, at about 450 m a.s.l. on a small hill one kilometre away. It is our Cru, the Sorripa,
from the ancient name of the hill. The vineyard is exposed to the north and the soil has large limestone fragments,
in addition to clay and marl. We have chosen to reserve it for Merlot, which we only produce in vintages when the grapes meet our quality criteria.

Our approach to viticulture is based on suitable soils and yields of 40/50 q/ha,
with only the youngest Sangiovese vines reaching 70 q/h.

All the vineyards, along with the rest of the farm, were awarded organic certification in 2009.
