From the Sorripa cru, blunt and refined Merlot

 

Ripensis is the offspring of our cru, a small 5,000 square metre vineyard, planted in 2000, the only one facing north. The first vintage dates back to 2007 and since then each season has been an experience, sometimes an adventure. Year after year we have realized that these vines give us grapes of excellent quality, worthy of being developed. This is how the monovarietal came about, something we produce only when we believe we can obtain wines that can be aged for a long time.

  • Grape mix: 100% Merlot
  • Manual harvest: harvested at the beginning of September
  • Ageing: at least 24 months in barrels and at least of 6/8 months in bottles
  • Production: only in vintages when the grapes are of high quality level; no more than 1,000 bottles are produced
  • Serving suggestions: uncork at least one hour before serving in large red wine glasses, at a temperature of 18 ºC.
    In this unfiltered wine, any sediment is synonymous with authenticity.    .

Our advice: this Merlot is suitable for long ageing, and is at its best when paired with seasoned cheeses and slow-cooked red meats.

Vintage taken away from wild boars. A dry winter was followed by a difficult season characterised by a very hot summer with little rainfall. The yield per plant was very low, partly due to ungulates working at night close to harvest time.

A promising vintage. Thanks to the reserves of water accumulated during the winter rains, the heat waves that followed from flowering to harvest did not affect the 20-year-old vines, allowing us to harvest healthy, well-ripened grapes with a good acidity level.
