The land on which Fattoria di Ripa d’Orcia stands has been cultivated for over 500 years. Much has changed over the centuries.
In particular, following the Agrarian Reform and the end of sharecropping, crops have been adapted to the natural vocation of the land,
and agricultural practices have drawn on centuries-old Tuscan traditions and advances in technical innovation. Since the mid-1990s,
we have naturally moved towards an agriculture that favours polyculture over monoculture, that fights pathogens with integrated defences
such as mating disruption, that respects the soil and does not alter the balance of the biological system of which we are a part.
The organic certification obtained in 2009 confirms our goal of combining the “best practices in the field and in the cellar,
a high level of biodiversity, conservation of natural resources and animal welfare.”
